When the Camera Changed Hands 👀

At some point that morning, Chiara was the one holding the camera.

That wasn’t the plan.

We were already deep into the shoot by then. Sunrise on the rocks. White lingerie by the casetas. Different looks, different moods. Standing by the lifeguard stand at Es Cavallet, with the beach still quiet and the sun drifting in and out behind thin clouds, it felt like the morning wasn’t done with us yet.

We had just walked down from the casetas, gear on our shoulders, sand under our feet. No rush. No pressure. As soon as we arrived, Chiara looked at me and said, “Okay… what do we do next?” She pulled two bikinis out of her bag. Red and blue. I didn’t overthink it. I pointed at the blue one. She trusted it instantly and went to change.

While she was changing, I was setting up the tripod and casually said, “We shouldn’t forget to take a few photos together as well.”

She smiled and replied, “Well… I’ve seen your Instagram. You pose sometimes too. Do you want me to take a few photos of you?”

That caught me off guard. In a good way.

At first I laughed and said something like, “I don’t really know what I’m doing when I pose,” but she insisted. So there I was, standing in front of my own camera, still wearing the shorts I’d had on all morning. And very quickly I had this clear thought: yeah, no. If I’m going to do this, I’m not going to half-ass it.

I went back to my bag, pulled out the shiny red briefs, and fully committed. If you’re going to let your model take photos of you, you might as well do it properly. That’s kind of how I approach life. Go all in, especially when it’s fun, and especially when people will have opinions.

Chiara genuinely seemed to enjoy being behind the camera. The light kept shifting, the clouds made things tricky, she struggled a bit with the settings and I helped her here and there, but none of that mattered. That wasn’t the point. The point was the moment itself. The play. The curiosity. The quiet excitement of doing something that hadn’t been planned.

Eventually, the camera came back to me. It always does.

And that’s when Chiara really stepped into it. Blue bikini. Lifeguard stand. Full cool-girl energy. At a certain point she was so oiled up I honestly thought she’d emptied half a bottle of tanning oil on herself, and it started to feel like that bikini was only still in place because it hadn’t realized yet how slippery the situation had become.

When we packed everything up and drove back afterward, I couldn’t help but smile at how the morning had unfolded. Sometimes you head out for a photoshoot thinking you know exactly how it’s going to go. And sometimes you end up in front of your own camera, letting go of control, laughing a little, and having way more fun than expected.

It was a strange experience for me. A very fun one. And a reminder of why I love working with people like Chiara. Easy, curious, and genuinely lovely to be around.

I’m pretty sure this wasn’t the last time our paths crossed.

Thanks for being here with me,

Arnold ✌🏼
